The story begins in a notary’s office in Montreal. Twins Jeanne and Simon Marwan are shocked by their late mother Nawal’s last will and testament. She has left them two mysterious letters: one for a father they believed was dead, and another for a brother they never knew existed. To fulfill her final wish, they must travel to her homeland—an unnamed Middle Eastern country heavily mirroring Lebanon—to deliver these letters and finally bury her with the dignity she felt she didn't deserve.
