This paper analyzes the 2023 South Korean Netflix series Bloodhounds , directed by Kim Joo-hwan. Moving beyond typical action-drama criticism, it argues that the series’ primary antagonist is not a person but the systemic economic precarity of post-COVID South Korea, particularly the predatory loan industry. The paper examines how boxing functions as both a literal and metaphorical language for navigating debt, and how the dualities of partnership and exploitation are staged through the series’ cinematography and pacing.
