Mineral scale (limescale) coats the thermoblock, reducing heat transfer efficiency and causing temperature sensor failures or true overheating.
Sometimes it’s stupidly simple. The machine attempts to pull water, but the tank is empty or not seated correctly. The pump runs dry, generates friction heat, and triggers the error.

You can usually resolve this by performing a filter maintenance cycle or a manual reset:
