High contrast inverts video colors too. To avoid this, only use High Contrast when WMP is minimized for audio, or use the MicaForEveryone method instead.
While there isn't an official dark theme for WMP 12, you can enable a dark theme by editing the Windows Registry. This method requires some technical expertise, but it's relatively straightforward.
