The deleted version, which exists only in low-quality dubs from early screeners, is radically different. It is slower, more hesitant, and arguably more romantic. Instead of the aggressive physical lunge, the scene features a long, agonizing beat where Jack simply whispers, “It’s okay.” Ennis, shivering, asks, “What’s okay?” Jack leans over and kisses him—softly, chastely—on the lips.
