The movie revolves around Ishaan Awasthi (played by Darsheel Safary), an 8-year-old boy who is misunderstood by his parents and teachers. He struggles to cope with dyslexia, a learning disorder that makes it difficult for him to read and write. Frustrated and demotivated, Ishaan's parents send him to a boarding school, where he meets his art teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (played by Aamir Khan). Nikumbh recognizes Ishaan's artistic talents and encourages him to express himself through art. With Nikumbh's guidance, Ishaan learns to overcome his difficulties and discovers his true potential.
The film follows Ishaan Awasthi, an 8-year-old with a wild imagination who sees the world in colors and patterns that no one else understands. While his elder brother excels at everything, Ishaan is labeled "lazy" and "stupid" because he cannot read or write properly. Sent away to a harsh boarding school, his spirit is nearly crushed until an unconventional art teacher (Aamir Khan) steps in to uncover the root of his struggle: Dyslexia.
