The series opens with Gaitonde’s dramatic suicide and the countdown. Sartaj, dealing with his failing marriage and corrupt superiors, starts the investigation reluctantly. We are introduced to the first flashback of Gaitonde as a low-level errand boy.
The success of Sacred Games can be attributed to its well-developed characters and outstanding performances. Saif Ali Khan, as Sartaj Singh, brings a sense of authenticity and vulnerability to his role, making his character relatable and human. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, on the other hand, is phenomenal as Ganesh Gaitonde, bringing depth and nuance to his portrayal of a ruthless gangster.
Sartaj is abducted and forced to question his own past. Gaitonde’s downfall begins when he betrays his own code. The standout performance here is Pankaj Tripathi.
