Breakthrough and commercial peak (1985–1993)

The 1990s were the peak of Bolton's success. His album "Soulmate" (1997) became his best-selling album to date, with over 11 million copies sold worldwide. The album included the hit singles "If You Ask Me," "When You Are Not Here," and the title track "Soulmate."

Bolton briefly detoured into a hard rock band called . Interestingly, the band featured guitarist Bruce Kulick (who later joined KISS). They released two albums: Blackjack (1979) Worlds Apart (1980) The Breakthrough: The 80s Transformation
